Safety First

A note about safety:
Please note the responsibility that you have to ensure the safety of yourself and others. This is especially important if you are using mains electricity or your project generates high voltage, heat or harmful radiation, or mechanical forces, or you are using harmful substances. Read and follow all instructions and safety rules when using equipment in makerspaces. Be mindful that placing any objects in public places (corridors, stairways, etc.) may present a hazard (slipping, tripping, …); please secure such areas with appropriate supervision and warnings. A special note about Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries.
LiPo batteries are commonly used in capstone projects, especially in the EEE, ESE, CMP and MCH departments. This kind of battery requires special care when charging, discharging, and during storage. The main concern here is the potential for fire. If you intend to use or store LiPo battery, then please read and follow this advice and check out this video.

If you are unsure about the safety of your experiment, equipment or product then consult with your project adviser, lab technician or the course coordinator.
