Deliverable | Details |
Every student is expected to work proactively towards completing
the project successfully and on time. By the time you have started this course, you should have at least a physical architecture in place and be ready to materialize the product. That is, you have properly organized the team, planned the remaining work that needs to be done, and you are ready to implement the final three steps of the design process. Please start by reminding yourself about the core concepts, then make sure that your team works towards successfully completing the deliverables that are listed below. |
|
Week 1 Regroup and start to build |
Your project advisers will be expecting you to demonstrate that
you are ready to continue the project – contact them
now! In 4991, you designed your solution up to the physical architecture step of the design process. Now start work on materialization. Regroup and review the plan and start to build. Make sure that you have all the required materials, components, and instruments. Focus on what needs to be achieved for the success of the whole project. |
Week 1 Register to the capstone course |
Please register to your project advisers section! |
Week 9 Midterm status report |
Your advisers will be looking for a clear transition from the
“proposal” to reasonable progress on
“materialization”. Update your previous project proposal into a form suitable for the final report. Your focus should now be on what you actually did and any verification results that you have so far. Arrange your content up to your current status and submit the (partial)report to your advisers. Your advisers will provide feedback; apply any corrections and continue to develop the report (you will summarize the report next week in the form of a presentation). The status report should be a single document prepared by the whole team. The document should be in pdf format with the filename “4992Status1234.pdf” (replace 1234 with your project code). [This activity is worth up to 10 points] |
Week 10 Midterm presentation |
Your advisers will expect the team to provide a clear account of
the work being done by each team member and what work needs to be
done to finalize the project successfully. Pay special attention to
the Gantt chart and identify the more serious problems that you are
currently facing. Summarize your status in the form of a presentation. The presentation should be prepared using PowerPoint or similar, it should be a single file with contributions from all team members. A guide to preparing your presentation is available here. Take turns to present your own work; conclude with statements about your successes and failures, and your plans to finish the project successfully. |
Week 12 Submit the draft of the final report and draft of the checklist. |
Your advisers will be looking for a mature report
that documents most of the work and verification
results. Submit a draft of the final report to the project advisers. The draft should be a single document prepared by the whole team. The document should be in pdf format with the filename “4992ReportDraft1234.pdf” (replace 1234 with your project code). We will provide you with a Draft Turnitin upload folder for you to check the similarity score which should be below 25%. Advisers will provide feedback; you should make corrections and develop the draft further. Also, submit the draft checklist. This will be an itslearning required assignment submission by every student and must be in pdf format with the filename “4992ChecklistDraft1234567.pdf” (replace 1234567 with your student id). Advisers will give feedback. |
Week 13 Submit the final report and final checklist. |
Your advisers will be looking for a full account of
the work of each team member and proof that the product meets all
the requirements outlined in the original description of the
project. The final report should be a single document prepared by the whole team. You should upload the file “4992Report1234.pdf” to the Final Turnitin upload folder provided to you on itslearning. Make sure that you have applied all corrections and suggestions given to you by your advisers and that the Turnitin similarity score is less than 25%. [This activity is worth up to 20 points] Also, submit the final checklist. This will be an itslearning required assignment submission by every student and must be in pdf format with the filename “4992Checklist1234567.pdf” (replace 1234567 with your student id). [This activity is required and the final proposal will not be accepted until the adviser approves the checklist] |
Week 14 Final presentations |
Your advisers will expect the team to provide a clear account of
the product build, the work done by each team member, and
experimental proof that each functional and performance requirement
has been met. See the final presentation schedule here. [This activity is worth up to 60 points] |
